We are providing the public sector across Scotland with support and advice to consider the long-term strategic infrastructure needs across Scotland.
For the last two years our Infrastructure Strategy team has been supporting the work of the Infrastructure Commission for Scotland (ICS). The ICS was established in early 2019 to develop a 30-year strategy and vision for infrastructure in Scotland with an aim to deliver an inclusive, net zero carbon economy.
In January 2020 the ICS submitted its Phase 1: Key findings report and six months later published its Phase 2: Delivery findings report. Scottish Government’s recently published five-year Infrastructure Investment Plan accepted the recommendations of the Commission and committed to their implementation to inform the ongoing development of its long-term infrastructure investment strategy. Our Infrastructure Strategy team will continue to support this implementation work.
Many of the ICS’s key recommendations have also helped to inform our own strategic corporate priorities of net zero carbon, inclusive economic growth and resilient and sustainable places. In addition, a significant number of the ICS’s overall recommendations relate directly to our ongoing work and continue to be reflected across many of our workstreams and objectives.
