We are working to attract inward economic investment into Scotland’s towns, cities and communities that will deliver housing, improve public service delivery, economic benefits and contribute to Scotland’s net zero carbon target.
Delivery of housing in town centres is widely recognised as being a key tool available to high street locations to support the regeneration of these areas particularly following the contraction of traditional retail uses.
Recognising this, SFT and Architecture and Design Scotland (A&DS) have entered into a strategic partnership which will utilise the skills and expertise of SFT and A&DS with a local authority partner to enable a well designed, deliverable proposal for a housing development in a town centre location.
The partnership is delivery focused and will work with Clackmannanshire Council to deliver housing on a town centre site in the Clackmannanshire area. A&DS will consider available sites and offer comment on the location, access to services and the types of buildings proposed. SFT will consider the housing models that could be used to deliver the new homes, such as Home Ownership Made Easy or Housing Delivery Partnerships.
As the partnership gains experience, we expect to work with other local authorities across Scotland to contribute to town centre improvements by bringing forward new homes for local people.
