£25m 'not-spot' project launched

A £25m project to improve mobile phone coverage in parts of Scotland has been announced by Scottish Government.

The project, developed and managed by SFT on behalf of Scottish Government, will see the Scottish 4G Infill Programme fund new mobile telephone masts in locations with no existing 4G mobile coverage.

Peter Reekie, SFT's chief executive said, "After the successful bidder has been selected, we'll work with them and the mobile network operators to identify as many 4G not-spots that can be addressed within the programme’s budget. The installation of future-proofed mast infrastructure will deliver good quality 4G coverage to those areas for the benefit of local communities, businesses and tourists."
