West hub shortlist announced


The West Territory hub Programme Board has shortlisted three high-quality bidders to be the private sectors partners in the West hub area.

The three shortlisted bidders are: Wellspring (Community Solutions Investment Partners Ltd; Morgan Sindall Group PLC; Appollo Capital Projects Ltd); Amber Blue (Forth Holdings Ltd; Robertson Group (Holdings) Ltd; International Public Partnerships Ltd); and Triarch (Laing O'Rourke PLC; Hochtief Concessions AG; Dawn Group Ltd; Currie & Brown).

These three were chosen from the 11 applications received and the West Territory Board will now go on to select its preferred private sector partner by end March 2012.

West Territory hub will benefit the communities in Glasgow, Inverclyde, East and West Dumbartonshire and East Renfrewshire. The hub initiative plans to deliver more than £1bn of new community infrastructure across Scotland through the five hub area’s working with local contractors and SMEs to deliver better local public sector buildings. Hub’s flexible supply chain will offer opportunities for SME contractors and designers to become involved in building high-quality public sector buildings in their local area.

Participants committed to work within the West Territory include: Greater Glasgow Health Board; East Dunbartonshire Council, West Dunbartonshire Council, East Renfrewshire Council, Renfrewshire Council , Glasgow City Council and Inverclyde Council; The Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow Metropolitan College trading as City of Glasgow College; Strathclyde Fire and Rescue; Strathclyde Joint Police Board; The Glasgow Housing Association Limited; Scottish Ambulance Service; NHS National Services Scotland; Clydebank re-built, and Clyde Gateway Developments Limited.

In these difficult times for both public and private sectors, hub provides an opportunity for integrated service delivery, asset management, regeneration and the delivery of community benefits.”
Neil Grice, hub Programme Manager at Scottish Futures Trust, said: “This is another important step for hub West on the way to deliver improved public services for the community by building quality buildings using local suppliers and contractors, while bringing the best value possible to the taxpayer.

“The announcement of the shortlist of bidders for West hub follows the success of South East and North and the ongoing procurement of East Central.”

The hub West Territory brings together major public service providers including health boards, local authorities, police and fire and rescue services and other public bodies, and is lead nationally and supported locally by Scottish Futures Trust.
